Objective
Reveal every safe cell using the adjacent-mine-count numbers, without triggering a mine. The classic logic-deduction game — every revealed number is a hard constraint on its neighboring cells, and the goal is using those constraints to clear the whole board without ever guessing into a mine.
How to play
- Tap a cell to reveal it — numbers show how many mines touch that cell.
- Use flag mode to mark cells you believe are mines.
- Reveal every safe cell without ever clicking on a mine.

About Minesweeper Tactics
Minesweeper Tactics is a compact take on the famous mine-hunting puzzle. Tap squares to uncover them, read the numbers that tell you how many of the eight surrounding squares hide a mine, and use that information to clear every safe square. A flag mode lets you mark suspected mines so you do not tap them by accident. Three board sizes let you start gently and work up to a tougher grid.
Tips and strategy
- Start where the odds are friendliest. Corner squares touch only three neighbours, so they are more likely to open up a larger empty area than a square in the middle.
- A revealed 1 with exactly one unrevealed neighbour tells you that neighbour is a mine. Look for these simple certainties before taking any risk.
- When a number already has all of its mines flagged, every other neighbour of that number is safe, so you can reveal them with confidence.
- Use Flag Mode for squares you have proven are mines. A flagged square is protected from the flood of an empty-area reveal, which keeps your marks tidy.
- Remember that the first tap can in fact hit a mine, since nothing is moved away from it. If that bothers you, choose easy or medium and treat opening taps as a small gamble.
What it exercises
Minesweeper Tactics exercises logical deduction, probability thinking and careful attention to detail. Each number acts as a constraint, and combining several constraints to find a certain answer strengthens the habit of reasoning from evidence rather than guessing. It also rewards patience, since a calm, methodical pass usually beats a rushed one.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the board sizes and mine counts?
- Easy uses a 5 by 5 board with 3 mines, medium a 6 by 6 board with 6 mines, and hard an 8 by 8 board with 12 mines. The mine count is displayed above the board.
- How do I flag a mine in Minesweeper Tactics?
- Press the Flag Mode button so it says On, then tap a square to place a flag. Tap a flagged square again in flag mode to remove it, and switch the mode off to reveal squares normally.
- How do I win?
- Reveal every square that does not contain a mine. You do not need to flag anything to win, but flags help you keep track of what you have deduced.
