How to play

- Tap a tile to select it and tap again to discard.

- Want a human opponent? Press Play a friend and send them the invite link — a chat opens so you can talk during the match.
About Mahjong
A simplified two-player Mahjong with 136 tiles (three suits plus winds and dragons). Draw from the wall or take your opponent's last discard, then discard one. Complete four sets and a pair to call Mahjong. There is no calling pung or chow out of turn.
Tips and strategy
- Keep tiles that connect: pairs, neighbours (4-5) and gaps (4-6).
- Honor tiles are only useful in triplets or the pair, so discard lone honors early.
- Stick to one suit for a bonus-scoring flush if the tiles come.
- The hint under your hand tells you how close you are to winning.
What it exercises
Mahjong trains pattern recognition and probability: tracking what has been discarded and what you still need.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I play a friend?
- Yes. Press Play a friend, send the invite link and a chat opens. Friend games do not post to the leaderboard.
- Are these the full traditional rules?
- No, it's a simplified two-player draw-and-discard variant that keeps the core goal of building a complete hand.
- Can my friend see my tiles?
- No. In friend matches the tiles are shuffled and dealt on the server, and each player is only sent their own tiles plus what is on the table (the chain or discards, and tile counts). The other hand and the remaining tiles are never sent to your browser.
