Mind Skill Games — Sharpen Your Mind, One Game at a Time

Objective

Split weighted blocks between two pans so both sides weigh exactly the same. Every block must be used exactly once — the goal is splitting them into two groups whose weights add up to the exact same total.

How to play

  1. Select a block, then tap the left or right pan to place it there.
  2. Place every block on one pan or the other.
  3. Check the balance — both pans must sum to the same total.

About Balance Scale

Balance Scale gives you a handful of numbered weight blocks and two empty pans. Your job is to divide every block between the left and right sides so both totals come out exactly equal. It is a friendly little partition puzzle, and the live sum above each pan lets you watch your plan take shape. Easy, medium and hard settings add more blocks and heavier weights.

Tips and strategy

  • Add up all the blocks first and halve the total. That half is the exact number each pan must reach, and if you cannot halve it cleanly, recheck your addition.
  • Place the heaviest block on one pan right away, then hunt for smaller blocks that fill the gap to your target.
  • Watch the running totals shown on each pan label instead of counting in your head. They update every time you place a block.
  • Pairs are your friend. Look for blocks that sum to the half-total together, or two blocks that match the weight of a single bigger one.
  • Blocks can only be sent to a pan, so if your plan collapses, press Reset to clear both pans and begin again with a cleaner idea.

What it exercises

Balance Scale trains mental arithmetic, number sense and the habit of working backward from a target. Splitting weights into two equal groups encourages estimation, trial and adjustment, and it shows how a big problem can be solved by testing smaller combinations.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Balance Scale?
Tap a block to select it, then tap the left or right pan to place it there. Once every block is on a pan, press Check Balance to see whether the two sides are equal.
What do the difficulty levels change in Balance Scale?
Easy uses two blocks per side with smaller weights, medium uses three per side, and hard uses four per side with weights up to 12. More blocks means many more possible splits to consider.
Can there be more than one correct split?
Often yes. Any grouping where both pans reach the same total counts as a win, and the Show a Valid Split button displays just one of the possible answers.
