A clock shows the time is 3:15. What is the exact angle in degrees between the hour hand and the minute hand?
7.5 degrees
At 15 minutes, the minute hand is at 90 degrees. The hour hand has moved 1/4 of the way from 3 to 4. Since each hour is 30 degrees, 1/4 of 30 is 7.5 degrees past the 3 (which is 97.5 degrees from 12). The difference is 97.5 - 90 = 7.5 degrees.
