Five friends—Ethan, Fiona, George, Hannah, and Ian—each live on a different floor of a five-story building (floors 1 through 5). Ethan doesn't live on the top or bottom floor. Fiona lives higher than George, but lower than Hannah. Ian lives two floors directly above Ethan. Which floor does George live on?
Floor 1
Since Ian is two floors above Ethan and Ethan is not on floor 1 or 5, Ethan and Ian must occupy floors (2, 4) or (3, 5). In either arrangement, the remaining floors for George, Fiona, and Hannah require George to be lowest (George < Fiona < Hannah). In both scenarios, floor 1 is the lowest remaining floor, forcing George to live on floor 1.
