A snail is at the bottom of a 30-foot well. Every day, it climbs up 3 feet, but every night, it slips down 2 feet while sleeping. On which day will the snail finally reach the top of the well and escape?
Day 28
On each 24-hour day, the snail makes a net gain of 1 foot (3 up, 2 down). After 27 days, the snail is at 27 feet. On the 28th day, it climbs 3 feet, reaching 30 feet, which brings it to the top of the well before it has a chance to slip back down that night.
