Wordle Strategy: Starting Words and Tips
A good Wordle game is mostly about information. Each guess should teach you as much as possible about the hidden word.

1. Pick a starting word with common letters
Words with several of E, A, R, T, O, I, N, S and different vowels, such as ARISE, STARE or CRANE, test many likely letters at once.
2. Use a different second word if the first misses
If your first guess shows nothing, choose a second word with five new common letters instead of reusing the same ones.
3. Remember yellow means wrong position
A yellow letter is in the word but not where you put it. Try it in a new slot.
4. Watch for double letters
If you are short on options, test a word with a repeated letter, such as FLOOR or SWEET.
5. Beware of word families
Patterns like _IGHT or _OUND have many answers. Use a guess that tests several first letters at once, not one at a time.
6. Use hard-mode thinking
Even in normal mode, only guess words that fit all clues until you are sure which letter to test.
